The art work of Rudy Gruenke

Rudy Gruenke was born in Grandview, Manitoba. A self taught artist who uses a unique form of art called Pointilism, he creates detail and shading with dots. When introduced to this art form nearly three decades ago, Gruenke realized he had found his medium. While some artists believe this type of work is tedious, he enjoys the challenge of Pointilism. With a portfolio that ranges form cultural to nature prints, the artist is now focusing on portraying Manitoba's history.

Gruenke first sketches the picture. He then uses a fine tipped drafting pen and permanent ink to create the detail with dots. The darker the shading, the denser the dots. Rudy Gruenke does not draw any lines with the pen, but dots the entire work.

Gruenke finds that Pointilism offers a captivating means of expression, resulting in work that delights the viewer.
